The students of SBS-ABA-MBA, on the occasion of the 59th Anniversary of Independence, visited “Mercy Home”, a house for 200 less privileged children, on Monday, the 14th of August, 2006. Various games and activities were conducted to the children, aged between 2 and 12 for two hours. Lunch was sponsored by the students and served by them, to the children. In certain cases, the children were even fed by our students.

The after-lunch session saw our students interacting with the children on one to one basis and giving them some educational tips. This was followed by cultural programs based on patriotism, which highlighted the contributions of great people to obtain freedom for the country and the standards set by them. It also gave an insight on what is expected from these young children, in the future.
Snacks were served in the evening and after another round of interaction with the children, the students left the home by 6 pm with a heavy heart and a sense of satisfaction. Each child in the home was provided with a pillow, blanket and a water bottle, in addition to some gifts.
The purpose of the visit was “Put a smile on a child’s face” and by the end of the day, it was done. It was a great learning experience and exposure for our students. While organizing the visit was learning at one end, knowing the other side of the world and understanding how to empathize was the learning at the other end.
The funds required for this activity were mobilized by selling raffles. It was a self –sustained effort. The valedictory function was held on August 17th 2006 with the Director, Faculty and staff being present.
On the whole, organizing this event was a great learning experience, participating in this was a memorable experience which our students would cherish for their life.
This activity was a part of the Social Activity Drive “SPANDANA” of ALLIANCE.
